Can I See Who Viewed My Profile on Facebook?
This is a question many new or veteran Facebook users have been trying to find an answer to, for about a decade now. A lot of misinformation is scattered around the web about this topic and in this post I will give a definitive answer to this question.
I have witnessed the following question being asked so many times on social networks, on discussion forums, on support forums and on personal blogs that I finally wanted to answer it myself hoping that my answer will help some people from being victims of scams.
Can I see who viewed my Facebook Profile?
The short answer is:
NO, YOU CAN'T.
Thankfully, so. Would you be comfortable if you knew that when you look at a random person on the street that they will know who you are, who your family is, who your friends are, etc.? I guess you wouldn't. That's why Facebook does not let its users to keep track of who viewed their profiles and I think they are doing the right thing.
You may choose to ignore my answer of truth and continue your neverending search for a "secret" or "magic" way to find out who viewed your Facebook profile but be aware that it will be a search in vain and perhaps with results you may not have wanted. Or, you may continue reading my post about why it is not possible to see who viewed your Facebook profile and stop your search here.
TRUTH: You Can't See Who Viewed Your Profile on Facebook
As someone who was scammed online in a few ways and as someone who learned a lot about various types of online scams during my 16 years of Internet adventures, luckily I was able to dodge many of them, I am writing this post to prevent anyone from being a victim of one of the popular scams that promise unsuspecting and unknowledgeable Faceebook users with the concept which is more or less like the following: "if you do this and that... then you will be able to see who viewed your profile on Facebook".
Let me first start with sharing the link of the official Facebook FAQ page that gives a definitive answer to this issue:
Actually, it is in the Common Myths About Facebook section in their FAQ, this should give you a clue about how a common question this is and how people have been spreading false information about it hence bringing it to a myth level.
Just in case the URL of that specific page may change, I will summarize what it says: Facebook doesn't track who views a profile or your posts, which means there is no way for anyone or any app (including third-party apps in Facebook) to tell you who viewed your Facebook profile. They even ask you to report any apps that you stumble upon that is claiming to do this.
As you see, as it is also answered by Facebook themselves, users cannot see who viewed their profile. Anyone, any app that is claiming to do this and asking you to "pay" or to "sign up" or to "complete an offer" or anything else is just a scam that is trying to take advantage of the unknowledgeable Facebook users. Unfortunately, I have seen many users falling victim to these type of scams and either losing money or their accounts or their personal information and things like that.
So, if you value your Facebook account and if you don't want to be the next victim of such a scam, my friendly suggestion for you is to stop your search for the question "can I see who viewed my Facebook profile" as you now learned without a doubt that you can't, and inform anyone that you know about this so that they won't fall for this scam either.
I hope that this post will help some of you and if you would like to warn your friends who may also be searching for an answer to the same question, please share this post.
